Chalupnik Veterans' Memorial Park in Verdigre will be the site of this year's Memorial Day Program. It will be hosted by American Legion Post 259 and will begin at 10 am on Monday, May 25. Commander Gary Jones will be presiding.
The program will begin with the Advancement of Colors by the Post 259 Color Guard. The VHS band will perform "The Star Spangled Banner" under the direction of Mr. Pete Pavlik.
Post Chaplain, Ted Haverkamp will have the Invocation followed by a reading by Penny Walton.
The Memorial Day address will again be given by Commander Jones. "Salute to Freedom" will be performed by the VHS band. RaeLynn Nelson and Kasen Kazemba will place the wreaths and flowers.
The Post Chaplain will read the always-emotional roll call, and perform the Benediction. The Post 259 Firing Squad will give a Salute to the Departed Veterans. The program will conclude with Taps, played by Austin Burkhardt and Isaac Cook, and the Retirement of Colors.
In case of inclement weather, services will be held at the VHS Gym.
