The Lady Vikings traveled to Wynot for a consolation match in the Lewis & Clark Tournament on January 30. They met up against Walthill on neutral turf.
Walthill jumped out with an early lead in the first to take a six point lead. Heading into the second, Wausa was unable to get points on the board for the first three minutes until Morgan Kleinschmit hit a shot to get the Viking started. Megan Kleinschmit followed up two minutes later with a score.
It took another two minutes before Esther Nelson returned fire. While Wausa struggled to get points on the board, Walthill had no issues. The Lady Jays racked up 20 points in the quarter to lead 37-19 at the half.
After the half, both teams repeated the second quarter. Walthill hit several three-pointers to boost its lead further out of reach. Morgan Kleinschmit with 11 points on the night, hit two freethrows and another fieldgoal for the Vikings. Paige Nissen found her two points late in third quarter as well.
Wausa took the fourth quarter but was not enough to seal up a win. Walthill takes the game at 62-39. The Lady Vikings will travel to Bloomfield for a conference game on February 2. Wausa drops to 9-10 on the season.
