When the historic flooding hit in March, it washed away bridges out and kept our staff from being able to reach some parts of the county. Keep in mind, we were at the very beginning of the flood, and most of the state was unaware of what was happening yet. Our best use of social media entry is our relationships with our readers to help us with coverage when we could not physically get to the site due to both safety and emergency. We obtained permission first and then put these videos on our public Facebook page. The THREE videos represents nearly 3 MILLION views. Rather than not cover the event since we physically could not get to some parts, we partnered with our readers for incredible, timely coverage of the historic event. The views and content show what a small publication can accomplish when recognizing the situation.
