Mass Of Christian Burial For Marguerite Demerath

​Mass of Christian Burial for Marguerite Demerath, age 90, of Creighton, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015, at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Reverend Jeff Lorig will be Celebrant, with burial in St. Ludger Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. Wake Service.

Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton is in charge of arrangements.

Marguerite died Monday, September 28, 2015, at Avera Creighton Care Centre.

Marguerite J. Demerath, daughter of Leo and Margaret (Neyens) Frisch, was born August 30, 1925, at Creighton, Nebraska. Marguerite attended West Highland School in rural Knox County and graduated from St. Ludger Academy in Creighton. She taught for six years in Fairview and West Highland rural schools. On September 14, 1948, Marguerite was united in marriage to Edward L. Demerath at St. Ludger Catholic Church. Six children were born to them: Marilyn, James, Robert, Mary Ellen, Marcia, and Monica.

Marguerite and Edward lived on a farm six miles west and three-fourths of a mile south of Plainview, Nebraska for 36 years. They retired from farming and moved into Creighton. Marguerite was a very active member of St. Ludger Catholic Church. She was a longtime member of Catholic Daughters, involved in Altar Society, a CCD teacher for 10 years, a 4-H leader for 15 years, and was a volunteer in ministry. Marguerite was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1151, Senior Citizen’s Center, and often volunteered at Creighton Care.

Marguerite is survived by her children, Marilyn Orr of Hudson, Ohio, Jim (Jane) Demerath of Plainview, Nebraska, Bob (Ann) Demerath of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Mary Ellen (Mark) Bushfield of Hitchcock, South Dakota, Marcia (Gill) Wright of Nashville, Tennessee, and Monica (Tom) Greer of Shawnee, Kansas; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; parents; brothers, Leonard and Lawrence Frisch; sister, Marie Neuman, and son-in-law, John Orr.
