Funeral Services For Phyllis Schmeckpeper

Funeral services for Phyllis Schmeckpeper, age 94, of Bloomfield, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. Pastor Jacob Bobby will officiate, with burial in Bloomfield City Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 7:00 p.m. at the church.
 
Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
 
Phyllis died Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.
 
Phyllis Dorothy (Bruhn) Schmeckpeper was born August 12, 1924, to Herman and Emma (Prosch) Bruhn in the rural area southeast of Bloomfield. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on October 26, 1924. In April 1939, Phyllis renewed her Christian faith with her confirmation at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She received her education from rural district #152 and Bloomfield High School, from which she graduated in May 1941. Phyllis taught in rural school districts #128 and #100 until her marriage to Daylon Schmeckpeper on February 2, 1944. They lived in the Pleasant Valley vicinity west of Hartington where they farmed and operated a dairy farm for many years. While still living on the farm, Phyllis was a 4-H leader.
 
In 1966, Phyllis and Daylon left the farm and moved into Bloomfield. She was employed at the dental office of Dr. HJ Blankinaw until 1994. She also was employed at Good Samaritan Society as a dietary aide and at Walmart in Norfolk. She retired in 2001 and returned to Bloomfield. Phyllis and Daylon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994. She was a member of the Bloomfield Women’s Club and First Trinity Ladies Aide.
 
Phyllis was called to her Heavenly home on November 6, 2018, reaching the age of 94 years.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Emma Bruhn; her husband, Daylon; sisters, Vera Lamprecht, Ruby Schainost, and Arlene Lemke; brother, Raymond; great-grandson, Hudson Mertens; and nephew, Gary Lamprecht.
 
She leaves to mourn two daughters, Joy Thomason and JoAnn Claussen; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
