Nellie died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Society.

Nellie M. (Murray) Doerr, daughter of William and Ruth (Dye) Murray, was born March 14, 1919, at Bloomfield, Nebraska. Nellie was baptized on March 13, 1940, and confirmed that same year at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. She attended grade school at District 43W and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1937. On August 27, 1939, Nellie was united in marriage to Albert Doerr at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two sons, Richard and Rodney.

Nellie enjoyed her life as a farm wife until moving into Bloomfield in 1969. She then worked as a bookkeeper and a store clerk. Nellie was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church and was involved in ladies church groups and was a Sunday School teacher. She also volunteered at Good Samaritan Society and was a member of Walking Club. In later years, Nellie loved playing cards, caring for grandchildren, sewing, and quilting. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will vouch for that as they were the recipients of many of her handmade gifts.

Nellie is survived by her sons, Richard (Betty) Doerr and Rodney (Nancy) Doerr all of Bloomfield, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Dennis (Jill) Doerr of Bloomfield, Todd Doerr of Earling, Iowa, Terri (Kevin) Rose of Alvo, Nebraska, Deanna (Troy) Petersen of Creston, Iowa, Tricia Monzon of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Matt (Ashley) Doerr of Bloomfield; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lyle Murray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Elvira Doerr of Bloomfield; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; two brothers; two brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law.
