Michael died Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Michael Steven Hoff, son of Jack and Rosemary (McManaman) Hoff, was born April 12, 1955, at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He lived in St. Edward, Nebraska until his family moved to Norfolk, Nebraska. Michael attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated in 1974. He was then called to serve his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Norfolk and began his employment with Robertson Distributing/Premier Midwest Beverage where he worked for 32 years. The people he served on his daily routes were like family to him. In the last year he was employed at Gerhold Concrete.
On September 7, 1984, he was united in marriage to Donna Holecek, at Christ Lutheran Church in Creighton, Nebraska. Two daughters were born to them: Amanda Jo and Kaitlin Sue. Michael was a selfless man. His dedication to his wife, daughters, and granddaughter was above all else.
Michael was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk where he enjoyed his membership in the Knights of Columbus and also being an usher for
Mass. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. Michael enjoyed sharing stories from his years in the military, especially the time he spent in Germany. Michael found true enjoyment in the outdoors and also in the passing by of a roaring train. A night was not complete without listening to AM radio and watching the Andy Griffith or MASH TV shows.  His newest love was being a Papa to his first granddaughter.  Reading books to her and playing on the floor were his newest joys.  He always worked to keep Donna and the girls happy, chauffeuring many shopping trips through the years. Though he didn’t do much shopping he could always be found with an Orange Julius in hand, making friends with strangers at the mall.
Michael is survived by his wife, Donna of Norfolk, Nebraska; daughters, Amanda (Jay) Kauth of Norfolk and Katie Hoff (Aaron Westerhaus) of Omaha, Nebraska; granddaughter, Hadley Kauth; siblings, Tom (Rogene) Hoff, RoseAnn (Larry) Janssen, John (Diane) Hoff, Chris (Mike) Anson, Pat (Bethene) Hoff, all of Norfolk, and Sharon (Dave) Schwartz of Harlan, Iowa; parents-in-law, Frank and Esther Holecek of Creighton, Nebraska; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathy (Jose) Velazquez of Norfolk, Kevin Holecek, Rhonda (Doug) Bauer, Diane (Jerry) Pospisil all of Creighton, Nebraska; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rosemary Hoff; his grandparents; and brother-in-law, Robert Maertins.
