June Pearl (Hilfiker) Petersen, daughter of Elmer and Margaret “Maggie” (Sawyer) Hilfiker, was born June 4, 1922, at Crofton, Nebraska. She attended rural school and graduated from Bloomfield High School. June was united in marriage to Raymond E. Petersen at Star Church in rural Knox County, Nebraska. They were blessed with six children.

June was a caregiver throughout her lifetime. She lovingly cared for her daughter, Margaret, and later for her mother, Maggie. There was always an abundance of love and food in June’s home. Family and friends would often gather at her house. Many quilting bees were held there as well. June helped on her parent’s farm, worked in her garden, and sewed clothes for her family, along with other household chores. June was a hard worker, and although she never worked outside her home, she was always willing to help her church, her community, and volunteer at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Society. She gave her heart and love to many people.

June was a member of Christ Memorial United Methodist Church in Bloomfield and was very active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

June is survived by her daughter, Lila Petersen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and her son, Donald Petersen of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; children, Margaret Petersen, Leslie Petersen, Loren Petersen, and Jean Stine; and six brothers and sisters.
