John died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at his residence.
John Daniel Broders, son of Delbert and Dolores (Steffen) Broders, was born June 22, 1955, at Yankton, South Dakota. He attended West Star District 126 for kindergarten, then St. Andrew's Catholic School and later graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1973.
He was married to Jodi Thompson on January 21, 1982, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church by Fr. Kros. They were blessed with one child, Bobbi, and two grandchildren, Sloane and Cameron. His greatest joy was playing with his grandkids, taking them to check cows, giving rides on the 4 wheeler and tractor and just being an all-around fun grandpa.
He was a member of the Knox County Cattleman's Association for 30 years and was honored as the Cattleman of the Year in 2017. John served as Beef Superintendent for the Knox County Fair for many years and was on the 4-H Council for 10 years. He did the beef weigh-in at the fair and to promote youth involvement, sponsored a trophy for FFA showmanship. His own show calves have sold all across the country, including state fair winners in Minnesota and California. He was instrumental in getting many youth started in the beef industry and had a real passion for helping kids show calves at the fair.
John had a hand in all things Lindy. Whatever needed done, he was likely a part of it. From being a founding member of Lindy Area Inc. for revitalizing the community, to serving as a past and current president of the board and so much more.
John passed away on April 14, 2018 at his home in Lindy, Nebraska at the age of 62.
Left to cherish John's memories are his wife Jodi Broders of Bloomfield, NE; daughter, Bobbi (Rob) Kopp and two grandchildren, Sloane and Cameron of Sioux Falls, SD; his mother, Dolores Broders of Bloomfield, NE; brothers, Dan (Deb) Broders of Yankton, SD, and Bill (Julie) Broders of Norfolk, NE; sisters, Donna (Jack) Froehlich of Pierce, NE and Laurie (Dave) Stout of Niobrara, NE.
