Funeral Services For Helen Doerr

Funeral services for Helen H. Doerr, 94, Plainview will be Wednesday April 22nd at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. The Rev Jonathan Meraz officiated with burial at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Bazile Mills. Visitation was 6-8:30 PM at the church. Ashburn Funeral Homes were in charge of the arrangements. She passed away on Sunday April 19th, 2015. She had been a resident of the Plainview Manor since 2001.

The daughter of William and Meta (Sheer) Horstmann was born May 28, 1920 in Knox County. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills . Helen graduated from Winnetoon High School and attended Grand Island School of business. She worked for the Knox County court house for several years. On February 21, 1955, she married Harlan Doerr in Bazile Mills. The couple farmed east of Creighton until retiring.

Helen is survived by two sisters, Leona Briggs of Lincoln NE, Hannah Johnson of Trinidad CO. her two children and their spouses Lois Farmer of Norfolk NE and son David Doerr of Creighton NE. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Also an infant brother, and brothers Christian, Paul, and Willard Horstmann. Two sisters, Meta Horstmann and Elsie Kumm.
