Funeral Services For Gladys Eckmann

Funeral services for Gladys Eckmann, age 96, of Bloomfield, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015, at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. Reverend Jacob Bobby will officiate, with burial in Bloomfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

​Gladys died Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Society.

Gladys (Ehlers) Eckmann, daughter of Henry and Anna (Barnhart) Ehlers, was born September 12, 1919, at Bloomfield, Nebraska. On March 10, 1937, she was united in marriage to Claus Eckmann in Yankton, South Dakota. Six children were born to them: Kenneth, Keith, JoAnne, Sharon, Marlene, and Jim.   

Gladys enjoyed living in the Bloomfield and Lindy area her entire life. She especially enjoyed farm life and all the family gatherings. Gladys loved to work in her garden and always had lots of flowers. When they moved into Bloomfield, she made many quilts for her family, dish towels, and pillow cases. Her family always enjoyed her special bread and pies. Gladys had lived at Good Samaritan Society for the past six years.   

Gladys is survived by her children, Keith (Diana) Eckmann, JoAnne (Lyle) Shallberg, Sharon (Merlyn) Hart, Marlene (Dave) Wragge, and Jim (Liz) Eckmann; daughter-in-law, Dona Eckmann; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Arline Larson and Dorothy Greckel.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claus; son, Kenneth; her parents; sisters, Marie, Hinnie, and Alvera; granddaughter-in-law, Missy Eckmann; and great-granddaughter, Megan Sage.
