Funeral Services For Elizabeth Samelson

Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth Samelson, age 59, of Bloomfield, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Bloomfield. Reverend Tim Podroza will be Celebrant. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Newcastle, Nebraska.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service.

Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth died, Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at her home.

Elizabeth Mae Samelson, daughter of Steve and Doris Baseel, was born October 8, 1956, at Sioux City, Iowa. She lived in Newcastle, Nebraska until moving to Bloomfield, Nebraska in 1981. On October 17, 1981, she was united in marriage to Ray Samelson at Hartington, Nebraska. They were blessed with one son, Carl. Elizabeth worked at various places throughout her life, including Region IV, Bloomfield Community School, and Bloomfield Post Office. She was also employed by Good Samaritan Society from July of 1997 until the present.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and St. Andrew’s Parish. She was involved in various local school activities and athletics. She was named Fan of the Year in 2015 by Bloomfield Community School. Elizabeth volunteered at St Andrew’s Parish and was a member of North Star Advisory Board.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Ray Samelson of Bloomfield, Nebraska; son Carl Samelson and Ashley Andersen and their child Zowie of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four more grandchildren, Alexander, Harper, Maci, and Peyton and their mother, Allison Cokenower of Harrisburg, South Dakota; and sisters, Jeanette (Jeffrey) Hastings of Trinidad, Texas, Rose (Vern) Wuebben of Crofton, Nebraska, and Joyce (Darell) Thoene of Hartington, Nebraska.

​She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Doris Baseel; her mother and father-in-law, Carl and LaVeria Samelson; and her brother, Joe Baseel.
