Funeral Services for Elizabeth Newsam

Private family graveside services for Elizabeth Newsam, age 94, of Bloomfield, Nebraska will be held April 1, 2018, at L’Eau Qui Court Cemetery in Niobrara, Nebraska.

Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth died Monday, February 26, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield.

Elizabeth L. Newsam, daughter of William and Amy Irene (Loney) Nolan, was born December 18, 1923, in rural South Dakota. She graduated from Niobrara High School. On April 1, 1946, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Orville “Tom” Newsam in Washington. They were blessed with four children, Herbert, Sharon, Stephen, and Sandra.

Elizabeth lived most of her life in the state of Nebraska, except for twenty years that when she resided in Arizona. Elizabeth worked as an accountant for ConAgra for many years until she retired. Her whole life was spent caring for her family as they meant everything to her. Elizabeth enjoyed reading, gardening, and canning the produce from her garden.

Elizabeth is survived by two children, Herbert Newsam of Willamina, Oregon, and Sandra (Robert) Epstein of Bloomfield, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Ron Campbell, Jeffrey S. Loehr, Rodney Newsam, Jennifer Batman Cornett, TJ Batman, Rowena Ehrenberg Moreland, Christopher Newsam, Carmen Ehrenberg Reid, and Naomi Newsam Barnett; several great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Bernice Hoffart of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jack Nolan of Crawford, Nebraska, Margaret Drobny of O’Neill, Nebraska, Mary Bourn of Elgin, Nebraska, and Patricia Melcher of Winnetoon, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Amy Irene Nolan; her husband, Tom Newsam; daughter, Sharon; son, Stephen; sisters, Loretta Eileen Slechta, and Kathryn Burt; and brothers, James “Sammy” Nolan and William Nolan.
