Funeral Services For Elaine Barnes

Memorial services for Elaine Barnes, age 71, of Bloomfield, Nebraska will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lindy, Nebraska. Pastor Tom Jacobson will officiate. Private graveside services will be held at Bloomfield City Cemetery.

Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

Elaine died Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at her residence.

Elaine Marie Barnes, daughter of Richard “Doc” and Marian (Thomas) Fritz, was born March 16, 1945, at Niobrara, Nebraska. She graduated from Niobrara High School. On July 20, 1979, Elaine was united in marriage to Duane Barnes at Yankton, South Dakota.

Elaine and Duane lived in Center, Nebraska for several years before moving to Bloomfield, Nebraska in 1995. Elaine worked for the USDA Service Center for 33 years, retiring in 2010. Elaine enjoyed needle work, fishing, gardening, caring for her flowers, and yardwork. She especially enjoyed her step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elaine was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lindy, Nebraska, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 4996.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Duane of Bloomfield, Nebraska; step-children, Carol (Sam) Sukup of Verdigre, Nebraska, Audrey (Roy) Gebeke of Port Orchard, Washington, Kelly (Deb) Barnes of Laramie, Wyoming, Diane (Dave) Cizek of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Loren (Jennifer) Barnes of Orange Vale, California; step-grandchildren, Allison Sukup, Sara Singer, Kyle Sukup, Angie Coufal, Steven Barnes, Megan Loranger, and Chad Barnes; step-great-grandchildren, Maverick Singer, Caddie Singer, Elin Coufal, Reed Coufal, Oakes Coufal, and Gavin Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

​She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard “Doc” and Marian Fritz; siblings, Jimmy, Larry, and Delores; nephew, Doug Fritz; her grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
