Funeral Services For Clarabel Scott

Funeral services for Clarabel (Bell) Scott, 89, of Columbus, formerly of Bloomfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. Reverend Tim Koester will officiate, with burial in the Bloomfield City Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Brockhaus-Scott Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

Bell died Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Nebraska

Bell Bearinger was born on July 23rd, 1926, to Lloyd and Ruth Bearinger. Bell received her education in Clearwater, NE, graduating from high school in 1943. She continued her education at Wayne State Teachers College and received her teacher’s license in 1947. During her time at Wayne State College, Bell met James T. Scott. They were happily married on December 21st, 1947. Bell began her career teaching country school in rural Clearwater, NE. She went on to teach school in both Plainview and Bloomfield, NE. Following her teaching career, she and Jim purchased and jointly-ran the Scott Funeral Home, located in Bloomfield and Wausa, NE. Bell and Jim also owned and operated a furniture store in Bloomfield. In 1991, Jim and Bell retired to enjoy spending time with each other, their family and friends. They also spent many hours on the golf course and enjoyed spending several winters in Arizona. In 2008, they made the decision to move to Columbus where they resided at Prairie Village. Jim and Bell then moved to Meridian Gardens in Columbus where Bell called home until her death.

Throughout her career, Bell belonged to several organizations. Bell was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she was involved in WELCA, Circle, and worked as the financial secretary. She was a member of both Eastern Star and P.E.O. Chapter EM for 50 years. Bell also worked as treasurer for the Bloomfield Library Foundation and was a Bloomfield Library Trustee.

Bell is survived by: sons, Steve (Diane) Scott of Princeton, MN and John (Susan) of Columbus, NE; grandchildren, Andy Scott (Jamie), Kaitlin Preston-Scott (Casey), Rozlyn Scott (Fiance Jon Benson), Brent Jarosz (Katie), Craig Jarosz; and great-grandchild, Brody Scott.

Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, parents, Lloyd and Ruth Bearinger, brothers, Don and Harold, and granddaughter, Brooke Scott.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or family choice.
