Funeral Services for Bonnie Wendt

Funeral services for Bonnie Wendt, age 89 of Plainview, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at United Methodist Church in Plainview. Reverend Bev Hieb will officiate, with burial in Danish Cemetery in Brunswick, Nebraska.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Bonnie Belle (Robinson) Wendt, daughter of Clyde and Thelma (Sidener) Robinson, was born May 21, 1928, on a farm near Plainview, Nebraska. Bonnie attended grade school at District 99 and graduated from Plainview High School. On February 11, 1951, she married Melbourne G. Dirks at her parent’s home. They were blessed with one son, Michael. Melbourne died in 1979. On March 1, 1985, Bonnie married Richard Wendt in Yankton, South Dakota.

Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper at N&B Gas Company in Plainview. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Plainview. Bonnie was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 148. She played with the Klown Band for nearly 20 years. Rich and Bonnie enjoyed spending winters in Texas.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Mike (Gayle) Dirks of Mason City, Illinois, Linda (Randy) Fox of Coleridge, Nebraska, Barb Jaeger of Wayne, Nebraska, Lorri (Randy) Kumm of Brunswick, Nebraska, Del (Nicole) Risor of Wayne, Nebraska, and Randy (Pam) Risor of Tonopah, Arizona; three grandchildren, Michelle (Dave) Jewett of Dallas, Texas, Jaci (Matt) Riley of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and Andy Dirks of Springfield, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; and sister, Velma Decker of Yankton, South Dakota.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Mel Dirks and Richard Wendt; brother, Sony Robertson; and son, Ted Risor
