Funeral Services For Bernard Montgomery

Funeral services for Bernard Montgomery, age 88, of Creighton, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church at Bazile Mills, Nebraska. Reverend Terry Huber will officiate, with burial at Hope Enterprise Cemetery at rural, Orchard, Nebraska. 
  
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton.   

Bernard died Monday, December 7, 2015, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.  

Bernard I. Montgomery, son of Charles and Mary (Burkhardt) Montgomery, was born May 2, 1927, at Venus, Nebraska. Bernard attended Pleasant Hill School, rural Orchard, Nebraska. On December 18, 1946, he was united in marriage to Arlene Boelter at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Eight children were born to them: Janet, Monte, Roger, Lynette, Marsha, Darla, Darell, and Suzann.   

Bernard farmed west of Creighton, Nebraska his entire life. He and Arlene retired and moved to Creighton. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, Nebraska. Bernard was involved in NRD and FHA.   

Bernard is survived by his wife, Arlene of Creighton, Nebraska; his children, Janet (Woody) Pierce of Colorado, Monte (Sue) Montgomery of Norfolk, Nebraska, Roger Montgomery of Wisner, Nebraska, Lynette Johnson of Plainview, Nebraska, Darla Hobbs of Norfolk, Darell Montgomery of Creighton, and Suzann (Gary) Funk of Ewing, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and brother, Francis (Jean) Montgomery of Creighton.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Montgomery; daughter, Marsha Reiter; sister, Leona (Moser) Boise; brothers, Wilbur Montgomery and Charles Montgomery, Jr.
