While living in town, Forest did maintenance at the Bruce Park Terrace apartments until retiring.

Music was a major part of Forest’s life, and he will forever be remembered around Northeast Nebraska for leading the Old Time Music Makers Band that played at numerous events and several retirement homes around the area. Forest was also the assistant leader of Alfred’s Bohemian Band of Verdigre, led by the late Alfred Cernousek. When not playing music or spending time with friends and family, Forest enjoyed repairing “anything”, tinkering in his shop, and lawn care and landscaping. Forest was a member of the Golgotha Lutheran Church of rural Wausa, Nebraska. He died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at the Avera Creighton Care Centre in Creighton, Nebraska, attaining the age of 94 years, six months, and 12 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and Wilma’s siblings, Betty Lemke and Dale (wife Selma) Lemke.
