Daniel 'Dan' Hoferer Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel “Dan” Hoferer, age 71, of Creighton, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019, at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Reverend Jeremy Hans will be Celebrant.

Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton is in charge of arrangements.

He died Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at his residence.

Dan has donated his body to scientific research.

Daniel B. Hoferer was born on October 5, 1947 and died June 19, 2019, at the age of 71. Dan was the oldest of ten children born to Bruce and Doris (King) Hoferer and graduated from St. Ludger Academy in 1966. He was united in marriage to Darlene K. Albin on May 14, 1965. They were blessed with four children, Bruce, Terri, Denise, and David.

Dan and Darlene moved to Atkinson in 1972 where they raised their four children. He worked at a variety of jobs including, meat cutter/butcherer, local and over the road truck driver, road construction, cowboying at a feedlot, and manager at National Farms. He was a jack of all trades, master of none, in the school of hard knocks.

Dan and Darlene moved back to Creighton in 2005 to retire. During his retirement he loved to hunt, trap, going boating and fishing, riding his motorcycle, and being part of the Patriot Guard and Legion Riders. Dan also loved to travel to his grandchildren’s school activities. He was well known for helping others around town and telling stories to friends and family.

Dan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darlene of Creighton; four children, Bruce (Marsha) Hoferer of Creighton, Terri (Lyle) Kaup of Stuart, Denise (Brian) Napier of Ewing, and David (Melissa) Hoferer of Kearney; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Dottie (Dennis) Hrbek of Lynch, Joan George of Lincoln, Mark (Kim) Hoferer of York, Warren (Joyce) Hoferer of Norfolk, Paul (Cindy) Hoferer of O’Neill, and Mike (Alice) Hoferer of Creighton; sister-in-law, Karen Hoferer of Creighton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Doris Hoferer; and his brothers, Dennis, Maynard, and Tom
