Burial Services For Lloyd "Shorty" Beckman

Mass of Christian Burial for Lloyd “Shorty” Beckman, age 87, of  Verdigre, Nebraska, formerly of Creighton, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Reverend Jeff Lorig will be Celebrant, with burial in St. Ludger Catholic Cemetery in Creighton.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton.

Shorty died Monday, October 31, 2016, at Alpine Village in Verdigre.

Lloyd “Shorty” Beckman, son of Ed and August (Krienert) Beckman, was born December 17, 1928, at Bloomfield, Nebraska. He graduated from St. Ludger Academy in Creighton. Shorty was united in marriage to Eva Ganskow and immediately inherited a family of four boys. They farmed six miles east of Creighton for many years, before moving to Winnetoon, Nebraska. Shorty later moved to Creighton before entering Alpine Village in Verdigre, Nebraska.

Shorty enjoyed helping neighbors with their farm work and was a natural handyman. He played the accordion by ear and entertained anyone who would listen. Shorty was a member of St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton.

He is survived by his stepsons, Kenneth (Sam) Ganskow of Columbus, Nebraska and Timothy (Karen) Ganskow Hastings, Nebraska; step-daughter-in-law, Kathy Ganskow of Columbus; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Shirley Beckman of Creighton, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva; his parents; his siblings; and stepsons, James and Donald.
