Creighton used a strong five-run seventh inning to defeat Crofton 11-5 in the first-round of the Class C Senior American Legion Baseball Tournament.
Creighton advances to Sunday’s 5 p.m. game against Hebron while Crofton drops to the loser’s bracket and will play Sutton at 2 p.m. It’s a double-elimination tournament.
At the Hebron Sports and Rec Complex, Creighton was hot early, scoring three runs in the first inning. Crofton responded with one run of its own.
The fifth inning proved to be tough on Crofton, though. Creighton scored two runs on two hits while Crofton left the bases loaded. Creighton held a 6-5 lead after five.
Neither team scored in sixth, and Creighton found its bats in the sixth to score five runs and take a commanding lead at 11-5 heading into the seventh inning.
