If losses can come at a good time, this one did. Although Creighton was defeated Tuesday night, the team will still play in the state championship tonight.
Errors proved costly as Creighton dropped an 8-2 decision to Battle Creek, which moves into the 5 p.m. semifinal against Louisville/Weeping Water.
Creighton committed eight errors in the loss. Kobe Lade and Austin Bode each had two hits for Creighton.
Creighton will play the winner of Battle Creek/Louisville/Weeping Water at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Creighton's Greg Paesl Memorial Field with the winner crowned state champion.
Because this was Creighton's first loss of the Class C Junior American Legion tournament, they automatically move into the championship game. Both Battle Creek and Louisville/Weeping Water fought back through the loser's bracket to earn the opportunity.
