Breaking News - Michael Foods Fire

Our initial story on Michael Foods chicken farm engulfed in flames was shared more than 1,600 and received more than 425,000 views. We provided updates throughout the night from the scene of the fire, as well as inside the fire hall where the community was providing food and water to the hundreds of firefighters. We went live twice during the fire, including with the manager of the facility. The next day we continued to cover the story with more information on the losses, which were expected to reach $2.5 million. We also reached out to the governor's office. Because we had covered an event with the governor at the facility just months earlier, he provided exclusive comments to our publication regarding the fire.
