Joshua Thomas Lewis, 10 years old, of Panama, Iowa died on November 2, 2017, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born October 11, 2007, to Rodney & Candice (McDowell) Lewis in Omaha, Nebraska. The family lived in Carroll, Council Bluffs, Pisgah, and most recently Panama, Iowa. Since Josh was two he was a student at the Iowa School for the Deaf until last year when he started attending Lo-Ma School in Logan, Iowa. Josh was diagnosed with a rare genetic defect at an early age and later with kidney failure.
Josh was baptized on April 13, 2008, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, Nebraska. He loved trains, dirt track racing and the movie Cars. Josh and his family also enjoyed a Make-A-Wish trip to Disneyland in 2016. Josh was preceded in death by his maternal great-great grandparents, Gib and Arlene Braunsroth; great grandparents, Janice Prochaska, Luke McDowell; uncle, Tyler McDowell; paternal great grandparents, Mary Jane Lewis, Alice Martinez and Vernell Onken; and uncle, Andy Lewis. He is survived by his parents, Rudy & Candice Lewis of Panama, IA; siblings, Becca Hope and Cody Howard Lewis of Panama, IA; maternal grandparents, LJ Rowley of Bloomfield, NE, Daniel & L.J. McDowell of Topeka, KS, Tina Clarkson of Minneapolis, KS; paternal grandparents, Rodney & Rhonda Lewis of Carroll, IA, Sue & Marc Holm of Defiance, IA; maternal great grand-parents, Keith & Beckie Rowley of Bloomfield, NE, Jim Prochaska of Houston, TX; paternal grandparents, Karen Lewis of Omaha, NE, Richard Straw of Nebraska City, NE, Marc & Marcie Carl of Kimbalton, IA, Bonnie Onken of Lidderdale, IA; uncle, Justin McDowell and aunt, Britani (Robert) Pagel all of Bloomfield, NE; uncles and aunts Cole Clarkson, Zach Redwing, and Carissa Clarkson all of Minneapolis, KS; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine, Iowa. Officiating was Pastors Stephanie and Tim Cramer.
